50 days clean and rising.
Actually 52 days as I type this, but 50 was a big mark to hit. This is by far the longest I have ever been clean. And this time, I don't even want to think about it, nor do I care what kind of updates have appeared on my "favorite" sites in the past 50 days. In the past, a combination of reliving it in thought, and curiosity over updates would always bring me back, sometimes even after a month.
50 days is only about 2 percent of 7 years, the amount of time this addiction has taken its course. And yet, thanks to my study of the scriptures, an incredible change has happened in that 2 percent. A man named Boyd K. Packer once said "The study of the doctrines of the Gospel will improve behavior faster than the study of behavior will improve behavior."
And yet, I know I still need to watch out. I've seen people on this forum post after backsliding down from many months clean. I've heard of returned missionaries getting back into it after remaining completely clean during the 2 years they served.

Isn't the freedom we have through Christ amazing and more refreshing then anything we could possibly ever take in. Keep your sights on the Lord, don't falter. God is good all the time and all the time God is good!!

"So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless."
1 Corinthians 15:58, NLT
On to 57 days now. Something really cool about passing 55 is that 55 is the biggest number I can show with my hands. It's a symbol of how this addiction is truly in the Lord's hands now.
God is so wonderful and you must be feeling alot more free and clean!
Blessings and peace to you!

That is such a great testimony. I appreciate you sharing it and I would like to affirm your recognition of the dangers in getting proud. I have been working with people struggling with this problem for several years and I also am in recovery. It has been my observation that complacency about your recovery - thinking "I have this under control now!" - is one of the biggest steps backwards.
Please take some time to celebrate this victory God has given you. Get some ice cream, run a mile, take half a day of work off whatever sort of thing floats your boat. Its good to celebrate your victories with other people and reward yourself in this process because its likely you have kicked yourself for so long on this that thinking positive seems vain. Part of walking this one day at a time is just celebrating what God is doing. Onward and upward.
God Bless,
Eric
