Outreach in Australia - any ideas?
Hello.
Shelley and others at this website have inspired me to suggest an outreach to industry workers to my pastor. My church is a healing community, and there are groups for sexual addicts, wives of addicts, those who struggle with homosexuality, just people who struggle with all kinds of sexual and relational brokeness. I think some kind of outreach to the ministry would be really fitting for the mission of our church, and helpful for those caught in the trap of lies.
Some ideas i had were:
* Going to a strip club with another woman, hiring a girl for a private session, just to talk to her and listen and show her Jesus.
* Doing gift bags like Shelley does (may i ask what exactly is in them?)
* Hiring a prostitute for an hour or a night or whatever, just to spend time with her, take her somewhere nice, and so she doesn't have to work for that time
Some challenges i envisage...
* Darkness is not fond of light. Even if we go into a strip club and aren't aggressively yanking the girls out of there, talking about Jesus is a Christian agenda and a Christian agenda is for those girls not to be there. Would strip club owners let Christian women in to talk to girls, give them gift bags, hire them for a session to talk? Would they see it as a threat to their business?
* Say if someone gets saved, wants healing, comes to our church...there are guys there who have struggled or who may still be struggling. Church is meant to be a safe place, but what if this girl recognises a guys face whom she's "serviced"? Worst case scenario, but Sydney isn't as big as LA or NY, and Australia isn't as big as the US (population wise). Sydney is about 4 or 5 million, Aus is 20 million. I have seen a couple of faces at work (as in my job now) that i am pretty sure frequented the club where i went. One of them recognised me and would stare at me, one of them didn't. Although, this place happens to be ironically diagonally across the road from where the club was! And i saw the owners son once on the street and kept walking, and i saw this corrupt criminal lawyer walk out of a firm where i was going to apply for a job a few years ago.
More later, would love to hear your thoughts.
Cheers

In scripture we all know that we are admonished to reach out hopefully to all people on earth. Many try to do so. Many do not seem to stay in ministry once they have started something. To me it is all a learning curve and I hope that success is seen when something is learned instead of the number.
I work at times with a group called Our Daily Bread, Missions and on occasion I am asked to teach. Many getting into ministry feel they have to do this or that or go to this school and then do something else all before they actually do something and don't get me wrong some training is needed, but I wonder what Jesus had on His mind when He started this whole thing?
Did He envision massive churches so big that one needs all the boards and equipment such as PA equipment and all the other things that seem come along with ministry or a church or was His concept for us to just love one another?
Sometimes I think we all make things more difficult than need be? Not saying that doing all that other is wrong, but I tend to believe at least is that we all have been called to be ministers of the Gospel and that is not only that Jesus died and was resurrected and that if we believe we might be saved, but the big thing I don't usually hear people talking about is that when Jesus did all of that He took the power and authority away from Satan and the only way anything can happen now is for Satan to get God's people (who have the power of God whether we know it or not or use it or not) to do dumb things and loose our focus and purpose.
I say this with as much humility and love as I have. Jesus died so that by love we would work together to destroy the works of the devil. Now we either do that or we don't? That is a hard one as it puts it on us to actually do something. I also have to admit that it is difficult at times as it can be very discouraging as other believers do not seem to understand that we all need each other, to at least exhort one another to even go on towards the goal.
The Gospel, the Good News is that we God's people have been given all power and authority in heaven and earth. So I am completely understood, governments do not have the power, criminals do not have the power, etc., who has the power and authority is the body of Christ if we will work out of love and unity or being in agreement. That being in agreement is huge and each agreement we have becomes a covenant that is not just between two people, but it is bound by the blood of Jesus. It is a blood oath that is far greater than anything on earth and is so powerful that God will also honor that agreement or covenant.
So, what makes it work or not is first people need to come to the point of maturity and that time was established with Timothy, which was two years. For one to come to maturity according to Ephesians, it takes the five fold gift ministry as that is God's government on earth. I mean we either get with that plan or we don't? Then it takes time to seek God for what we should do as we to be sons/daughters of God we need to be led by the Spirit of God in all we do especially in what we speak or right. Our words have power, not because of us but because of Jesus. We actually have power to even command the very angels and if you don't believe that it lays it out fairly clearly that if you resist the devil and command him to go, he will flea. Satan is only an angel. If one has the power to command Satan then we have power to command angels, if we believe we have the power to command angels. Of course if we don't believe it, that does not make us much of a believer and it also means that we are not in line with scripture.
We all are to over come by the blood of the Lamb by the words of our testimony. Part of that testimony is to confess that the body of Christ have the power and authority to deal with all problems and needs, which takes us walking in love and being in agreement and standing with each other.
I pray we all walk in the light we have been given and if we all stand with each other that light will reach across the globe as that light is the Holy Spirit. I encourage all to find our place and purpose and then learn to walk in it with each other.
We do so and there will be peace on earth and good will to all.
God does have a plan for everyone and everyone is called to be a part of ministry somewhere. All jobs in ministry are important as it is designed by God to be a servant and save lives. God gave us so much, but how much do we give Him in return?
Hello Oneofus,
I would like to reach out to the girls too. I am in Melbourne. Maybe we could share some thoughts.

Why don't you try teaching a bible study for women at your local jail? That is a good start....
Agree ........... and or just be a friend. Really it works. You will be tested though. Conditional love or unconditional love.

Hey, there;
I know this is an old post, but am wondering if the outreach panned out? If so, do you have any praise reports?

Currently in touch with a few women I worked with in the adult industry to help them transition out. Will soon become a mentor for a young girl, from a christian organisation called Good Sheppard, who is going to be matched with me. Hoping to talk about my journey publicly so some women will start to come out of the lies they live in, like I was. We have no role model here in Australia. Wanting to outreach to more girls. One way to do this is to work in collaboration with the legal sex industry community organisations. The only problem is that they are pro sex work. There is progress being made as I attended a focus group lately. There is a lot of space to reach out to private escorts, who work alone and need community. Thank you Shelley for making me come out and showing me the way! Praise God for being my only Father who loves me, protects me and believes in me. Thank you Jesus for dying on the cross for my sins. I want to give my whole life to YOU! Please pray I can outreach to women here in Australia by starting Pink Cross Australia, legally registering it (need 3-5K) and starting to receive tax deductible donations.
