Recovery - What To Do With Reoccurring Illicit Images
Not too long ago I had a light bulb moment. For those of you in beginning, mid or end of recovery from porn addiction, I pray this helps you. I remember often being plagued by reoccurring images during random times. Anything could trigger those memories. It was probably intimidation from the enemy, but God did something really wonderful one day as I was sharing my frustration in prayer.
God began to reveal insight that had never crossed my mind before: "Whenever a disturbing image of someone comes to your head from viewing past pornography, worship me (God). Submit the images to me and begin praying for them. Pray for their freedom and as you pray I will direct the Holy Spirit to share with you insight about them-even if you've never met them. You will find yourself praying for specific things about their life or childhood. I will download images of them recovered to your mind and heart."
This blew my mind! The Lord was fighting for me as He communicated that revelation to my heart. God can replace the images that have been stored in our mind with images of these people in their complete place of freedom. Love hopes all things believes all things. Also the Spirit may lead you to Scriptural passages directly applicable to that person in that moment. You can declare truth from the word over them.

That is so awesome!! And so true! I used to struggle with seeing past images and someone had told me to do that same thing. So i began to talk to God and give all of those images to Him and gradually he took them away! Awesome!! Thanks for sharing with everyone!!

God's love and mercy for us is true beauty beyond our imaginations. Thank you for sharing that, the devil use to try and plague my mind with past shoots I did or the men and women I worked with, I would in that instant rebuke satan and cry out to God HE alone has the power to restore. God bless you in your endeavors, may you continually grow stronger in the Lord.

In order to marry a soldier you have to be one at heart.
Dear Jan,
YES-thank you for your words of encouragement! Praise King Jesus for what He is faithfully doing. There definitely is that passion of the Lord to raise us up by His Spirit. I understand now why His Holy Spirit is such a gift. Again we can't get any closer to Daddy than having His Spirit within us - leading us from the inside out.
Thank you for sharing some of your experiences. I am in awe of how He loves us back to life and how His words have been eagerly shared with us, especially the authority He has given us to rebuke the enemy. I love that it states when we resist the devil, he will flee. Imagine the war that must be going on for that to happen!
Blessings abundant to you!
That is an awesome insight!!! God is amazing. Not only does He want to heal us of our addictions, but He wants to bless us, and heal others as well.
Thank you for sharing that. I can see that the Lord is doing an amazing work in your life. Praise His name!!!

Dear Beloved Branch,
God is relentless in His pursuit of us isn't He? The irony about addiction is that it positions us to think that we are powerless. The light bulb -waking up moment is realizing that in our most powerless moment during our most desperate season God, with all authority, still asks us to partner with Him in declaring truth. In so doing we share in an activity the Lord does on a constant basis: routing out the enemy and foreign armies. WOW! Unusual equipping, but strength training that's for sure. His strength is perfect when our strength is gone.
Check out Psalm 18 and Psalm 29 -Observe what Daddy's speaking voice literally does! Bless you.
Absolutely!! In ourselves, we are absolutely powerless, but in Christ, we are more than conquerers (Rom. 8:37).
I LOVE that Scripture in 2 Cor. 12:9 that you referred to. In fact, I think that addiction can sort of be compared to a thorn in the flesh -- perhaps not what Paul was referring to, but it is an affliction nonetheless, and I see no other alternative than counteracting it with humility and complete surrender.
I love what John the Baptist said in John 3:30: He must increase, but I must decrease. There are things that I struggle with on a daily basis, and I really have no other alternative but to surrender myself completely, and make it about the Lord, otherwise, I would just be wallowing in defeat. I really try to stay focused on Jesus instead of my own "stuff." It's so cool when Christ uses our weaknesses and infirmities to further His Kingdom....and the greatest part is, when we take your mind off of our own afflictions and put them on Christ, He totally leads us in that battle.

I don't struggle with porn, but with sexual fantasies, which really isn't any different. That is helpful for me, I'll have to try that, thanks!
"Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are Mine!...I am the Lord, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior;...You are precious and honored in my eyes, and I love you...do not be afraid, for I am with you." (Is.43:4-5)
Dear precious in His eyes,
The Lord encamps around you. He arms you with strength. He makes your way perfect. He rejoices over you with singing. His faithfulness reaches to the heavens. He rises on tip toe to show you mercy - (hebrew translation) He scans His word in order that He may fulfill it. He levels the path before you. He is the rock that is higher than us.
Enjoy the many ways He is strengthening you to walk with Him. Thanks for your response. Daddy is faithful.
