Basic Truths Part 7: Receive Salvation

Jesus took your place on the cross two thousand years ago so that you could know God.

“For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit...” (1 Peter 3:18)

When you receive Him as your Lord, He makes you His child:

“Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God” (John 1:12)

If I put a stack of $100 bills right there next to your computer screen, and told you that they were yours, what would have to do to really make them yours. I mean, you could just sit there and stare at the stack for quite some time, and be convinced that, sure enough, that is a stack of $100 bills. But in order for it to really become the gift that I placed before you, you would need to reach out and receive the money. I told you, “If you receive the money that I am offering you, it is a free gift from me. You didn’t do anything to earn it, but it is yours.” I hope you would receive my gift.

You can believe in Jesus, but you only have salvation if you receive God’s gift to you - Jesus Christ. Salvation is a free gift; you cannot earn it. You do not deserve salvation, but God gives it to you anyway because He loves you. You have salvation and eternal life if you accept God’s gift to you and invite Jesus to be the Lord of your life.

Have you done this?

Have you asked Jesus Christ into your life as your Lord and King?

If not, you can di it right now. The Scriptures tell us that now is the day of salvation (look it up in 2 Corinthians 6:2).

PRAYER FOR SALVATION

I confess Jesus Christ as the Lord and King of my life. I believe in my heart that He is alive from the dead. Lord, I confess to You that many times I have ‘missed the mark’ and gone my own way. But from this moment on, I receive Jesus Christ as the sacrifice for my sins, and I am a new creation in Jesus Christ. Old things have passed away, and all things have become new. Christ lives in me!

As I have confessed Jesus Christ as my Lord, an I believe in my heart that He is alive from the dead, I know that I am saved! I have received eternal life as a free gift from You! Amen.
