Basic Truths Part 1: A Strong Foundation
Basic Truths with Pastor Chadwick
A Strong Foundation
The Christian life must be built on the sure foundation of Jesus Christ. He is the foundation for the Christian faith:
For no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. (1 Corinthians 3:11)
If you build on anything else, your spiritual foundation is faulty and will collapse when tests and storms come your way... and guess what... they WILL come.
But you know that...
If your foundation is strong, you will be able to stand, no matter how hard the winds blow.
Jesus claimed this: I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. (John 14:6)
Many people have the wrong idea and wrong understanding of what it means to be a Christian. Some think that if you live in a CHRISTIAN NATION... you are a Christian. Some think that if they had CHRISTIAN PARENTS... you are a Christian. But being a follower of Jesus is not based on your ethnic or family background. It is based on a relationship.
Knowing ABOUT God does not mean that you know Him personally. You are in this forum, and may know ABOUT some of the people in the porn industry... but you don’t actually know the person. You may know about the person that you married, but sadly enough... you often times find yourself wondering if you really know that person anymore. All that to say this: it is possible to know ABOUT someone, without actually knowing the person intimately.
In the same way, you cannot know God without having a relationship with Him. Christianity is all about having a relationship with the living God.
The basic foundation of the Christian life must be built upon Jesus Christ. The best part of this is that He wants to get to know you as well. He wants to know you personally.
The Bible says this: And this is eternal life, that they know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent. (John 17:) God is revealed through Jesus.
But, before you go further into that... let me ask you...
“What do you believe is keeping you out of knowing God personally?”
When you hear that God wants to know you personally, what comes to mind? How do you feel about this? Do you believe it?

I have been pretty much born and raised in church, and can honestly say that I still don't really KNOW God. And I am struggling to come to the place of KNOWING Him...not sure why. One, it is hard to find time, but even that doesn't really answer it. Perhaps I do struggle so much with feeling worthy to come to Him cuz I know I continually fail and struggle with sin. Even knowing that the word says that we must have faith in Jesus and that He is our righteousness and all our righteous acts are as filthy rags and Jesus wants us to come....I still struggle with COMING TO HIM. Ughh.
"Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are Mine!...I am the Lord, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior;...You are precious and honored in my eyes, and I love you...do not be afraid, for I am with you." (Is.43:4-5)
