Brother, overcoming 'any' addiction is a constant ongoing process. You do it slowly at first, then once you have become used to stopped looking, you keep going. That is how i started out. I had to keep telling myself that these female performers were not worth my time. You have to find a comfort zone 'within' yourself first.
There is Good News all over your life friend, (even though sometimes it doesn't always feel that way.)
Before you even fell... there was a God who made a way for you to get up.
Before you even strayed off the path... there was a God who made a way back to a place of purity and wholeness.
And that God loves you... and desires to walk through this with you.
Romans 5:8 says, "But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners."
This is Good News for you because you now get an opportunity to deal with this addiction head on and know that God is right at your side.
So, if you can believe that God was with you even before you fell... and then right there available to you while you were falling... and even now as you look for 'a way up'... you can be confident that God won't abandon you as you heal. So do not be afraid.
Something that helped me during the healing process was to reach back into my memory as far as I could and identify where porn had an effect on my life: confess the sins that I could; mourn the ways in which porn had been laid as a trap to me... and in all of it, draw close to God.
My testimony is available... maybe by reading it, you will find encouragement... and see that you are not the only one to feel like the only one.
either Celebrate Recovery, a Christ Centered recovery program if you have one in your area, or Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous. I would also strongly suggest some Christian Accountability, we can't beat it on our own.
These are only suggestions.
The first thing you have to do is really decide once and for all that you truly want to stop viewing porn. If your not really willing to want to stop viewing it, then you will continue to go back to it. If your at a point where your trying to make reasons why it's ok, then you will continue to allow yourself to be pulled back into it. Here are two things that will help once you decide you really want away from it.
1. Pray as soon as you feel tempted to watch. Resist the devil and he will flee.
2. Watch the video that on the site about how many people involved in porn have either committed suicide over the years or died from drug related deaths. It's clear to me that these women are not happy in these films. Ask yourself this, could you look at any of these women in person and say tell them that you watch porn and feel fine with it? If Jesus was standing in your room, would you be fine with him seeing you watching porn? The truth is that we feel guilt for a reason and the reason is because it's wrong period. Let these few things be a push for you to overcome watching porn once and for all.
You can overcome this, when you do you will feel so much better once and for all.
Read the book of Romans, specifically the 7th Chapter, until you understand the message since it's the key to overcoming any type of sin. And if you can't figure it out purchase a reputable bible commentary on this particular book. Basically, when Jesus died on the cross for the sins of all mankind he overcame death, hell, and the grave. This paid the price for every type of sin for all mankind. All you have to do is accept him as your Lord and Savior.
After this is done the Holy Spirit will be in your corner, which was a viable option until Jesus was crucified. This is God's prescribed order in not allowing the sin nature to control your life. Everything must be done through Christ and what he did at the cross. If you do this consistently then you will no longer be in bondage to any variety of sin.
The last interview of Ted Bundy, is powerful and everybody that wants to break the chains of their addiction to pornography once and for all should watch this video because no little kid grows up wanting to be the next Ted Bundy, yet it happens!
The fact that you want to stay away from porn is evident that you want to do good things. There is this desire in your heart to do good.Keep trying man.Do not hate yourself because God loves you He sees the good in you and not the bad.Try to forgive yourself because he has surely forgiven you for your weakness.
In the end of any prayer we will say that let our soul praise the Lord, let our mind praise the Lord and "We Shall never Forget the Good things he has done to us ".... So if u remember the good things that God has done in ur life u will overcome any sin. It is my experience.
When you feel so weak, God is so strong in you because of who you are in Jesus. NO sin can weaken who you are in Christ, nor can ANY sin make God love you any less. You don't have to "earn" God's love either. GOD IS LOVE, and He CANNOT be anything else other than who He is. Just let God's Love wash over you and change you, because THAT is what you need. All this other porn trash is a counterfeit, and you're settling for SO much less than what God wants to give you when you choose to engage in porn. When you pray to God, pray this: "I have confidence to come unto the Throne of God by the Blood of Jesus!" and keep praying it until you see yourself standing before His throne. I know from my own experiences that this works, because you are praying His Word over yourself, which is what you should be praying.
Well it is really effective to tell someone who cares about you enough to help you keep you in check. usually a guy friend. one of the biggest things is not to give up once you gave up. As in if you do it once don't enable your self to do it twice, thrice so on. Ask for forgiveness and if need be unplug/hide the tools of your pornography. if you really want results set it all ablaze.. this would not be the cheapest of methods. i have thought about it. learn to forgive your self and keep on going. if you can already not look a porn for a few months i'm sure your doing a few things right. it is also good to practice self discipline, e.g train yourself to react differently to certain impulses, like if you feel the night time pressure immediately turn off the tv/computer or go out for a walk/drive.
When I feel especially weak(almost overpowered by temptation)I ask for the Holy Spirit to give me the necessary strength to resist the temptation. And when I need a refill I pray for the exact same thing. It works for me, hopefully it will work for you too.
