well went to the chat rooms...the lobby said there were 8 people there, but there were none. It would be cool to be able to chat with a few of you sometime and get these chat rooms running. It is almost 6pm here so I know it is early there....so maybe i will try again later.

I just now came across this thread. Chat sounds great, although I'm still trying to figure out what the topics will be.
Are you talking about apologetics, like debating evolution and Calvinism vs Armenianism, or are you just talking about apologetics as it relates to porn? We might want to have a topic set up beforehand so that we can research it.
Anyhow, I'm all for it.

No biggie. I'll just start dropping in at regular intervals(assuming no emergencies arise) for about 15 - 20 minutes each and see what days and times draw the most people, then I'll post up my findings.
Let's say, for the next week, I'll stop by at 4pm, 6pm, and 8pm Eastern Standard Time and see who's hanging around.
Then we can narrow it down to a more specific interval.
Hope to catch a few people.

I'd like to discuss this subject in a little more detail. How we might structure it. Formal vs Informal chat sessions. Etc....
We should also discuss ways we might help Eric improve the chat software. Running a site like this can be a chore, and so I suspect he could use all the help he can get.

I would love to use the chat rooms to dicuss things at a faster pace. I also like that idea about set times for group talks.
But I think, not stirring up controversy, religion should be left out of the picture. I've been trying for so long to find an antipornography, or pornography relief site that doesn't use religion as its infrastructure.

There are so many religions out there, and I'm sure there is a wide variety of religions brought to this site by the users. I think the real issue of pornography should be delt with single handedly.

Opposition to this idea could be that those who have different views on religion should just not go to these sessions that involves such ideas and have their own seperate meetings.

I understand your point, however, the Pink Cross IS a Christian ministry.
There is room for discussion of Pornography from a non-religious perspective; but the focus of the Pink Cross, by it's very nature, will be to deal with pornography and it's related issues from a Christian perspective. I suspect most of the people who see the name "Pink Cross" would understand.
Nonetheless feel free to suggest topics and ideas for chats that arent necessarily religious in nature.
I dont think the Mods would mind at all. ;->

just like you can quit shooting dope without belief in God....
you just do it. Unplug the computer, find something to do when the temptation hits and have a backup plan to help you when the urge strikes.
Treat it like you would any other addiction....

How about next week Wednsday and then that coming Sunday, in the afternoon. Let's work out a good time here in this thread.
It should be late enough so that West coasters have time for morning services(on Sunday.) But not so late that our European friends have to stay awake all night.
What times work well for you guys?

Why dont we set up regular times. Bible Studies, Topical discussions, Q and A sessions, etc...
The chat rooms are there, we should make use of them.
Let's say once a week (or even a couple times a week) we schedule a Bible Study of some sort. Even invite guest speakers.
We should probably pester Eric about debugging the chat room software. Or possibly upgrading it to something a little more reliable.(Of course I'm being a bit picky here. The chat software uses PHP which has never been particularly well suited to that type of application. Just my opinion. I'd use Java.)

Recently I've been studying a lot of the materials over at Ravi Zacharias Ministries.(Moderators, mind if I add a link?)
I think good topic for an online discussion would be on the proper handling of Apologetics in the context of the Pink Cross and related ministries. Knowing the truths of the faith is one thing. Being able to deliver them with Wisdom, Kindness, and Faithfulness can be something very different.
It would also be proper, in my humble opinion, for each of us to do some preliminary research specifically devoted to finding out our own weaknesses in the areas of Theology and the "Big Questions" that we are surely going to be hammered with as we seek to minister to those in the industry. The chat room would be a perfect place to be up front about those weaknesses and to begin to seek to rectify those problems. I've recently uncovered some significant flaws of my own that I'd gladly share.
As per times, that's a tough one. Most of us have jobs(At least for the moment. Heh.) And many(most?) of us are in different time zones. Nonetheless, I'll think it over and post up a suggestion as soon as I think of one.
