 Big things are happening around here! We can’t even keep up with what God is doing so we've decided to shoot out some bullet points to share our big news with you:

  Garrett and Shelley were ordained as Chaplains on April 4 and are now authorized to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ, perform marriages, baptize and confirm and to practice all Biblical and religious activities pertaining to this office in accordance with the laws of the United States, as directed by the Board of Leadership Servants of the Order of Saint Martin. We were ordained by Jeff Hetschel, Vice President of the Southern California Chaplains Assocation.

In a nutshell, we are ordained to serve and love all people with the love of Jesus Christ and especially want to offer these services to people in the porn industry who need help to rebuild their lives after porn. So, if you’re in porn and want out and need to get married, baptized or learn about the amazing love of Jesus, you know who go to. (smile)

We especially want to thank Chaplain Jeff and Chaplain Kurt for recognizing the call on our lives and ordaining us. We are deeply honored.

  We are VERY pleased to inform you that Pink Cross Foundation is exempt from Federal income tax under section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The IRS has determined that Pink Cross Foundation is a Public Charity. WOO HOO!!

In a nutshell, this means we can offer tax deductible receipts and are qualified to receive any gifts, properties or transfers YOU want to give us!! After much hard work and waiting for almost 8 months to receive any word back from IRS, we FINALLY received the IRS Determination letter that we are approved and we bawled our eyes out and praised God for giving it to us just in time! Thank you to all of you who stood by us and helped us during this tedious process.

  God sent Shelley a precious and amazing woman who voluntarily left everything she knows and loves to move across the country all the way to California to assist her in the office and help women who are leaving porn. Shelley’s whole life has changed since Heather came along to help her. God finally answered my prayers for a personal assistant. Ladies and Gentlemen, I want you to meet Heather!!!

Heather is an energetic and talented 25 year old who is a graduate of Kutztown University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelors Degree in Professional Writing. On staff for three years with Campus Crusade for Christ’s music ministry, Keynote, she managed and toured with bands, wrote for the marketing department, spent time as a lead singer as well as discipled college students inspiring them to take the Gospel of Jesus Christ back to their campuses. She has a passion to see her generation touched by the power of God as well as help women who are recovering from the sex industry.

Pink Cross Foundation has rented an apartment where Heather can live with women who have recently left porn and mentor them while they are healing from the porn industry. We really need your help to pay the monthly rent and expenses. Heather is an awesome mentor and helper to these women so any help you can give is greatly appreciated.

PS: We are seeking other missionaries who feel called to move to California to help us. Porn is not glamorous and either is this ministry.

  Pink Cross Foundation went up to California State Capitol on March 10 and 11 to speak with Assemblymembers and Senators about the harms of the porn industry. Three former porn actresses were able to courageously share testimony and educate lawmakers who were shocked and some even outraged to hear about the illegal operations of the porn industry. We brought indisputable evidence and handed out over 30 large packets to lawmakers.

We were offered by one lawmaker to use their office as a home base if we ever needed anything while up at the Capitol. God truly gave us favor and continues to give us favor at the State Capitol. We even found a way to get a packet to Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger so let’s pray he reads it and does something about the abuse happening daily in the porn industry. We plan to go back in the near future and continue educating lawmakers about the illegally operating porn industry. Hopefully next year we see new bills introduced to crack down on the porn industry.

In a nutshell, porn is coming down!!

  Pink Cross Foundation was able to give Maddy, former porn actress Michelle Avanti, a baby shower thanks to many of you who donated. Maddy said she was so blessed and thankful so many people cared enough to give her baby supplies and gifts. We were even able to purchase for her a crib and stroller. She is having a baby girl in mid July so there is still time for you to send gifts and supplies in for Maddy. A sincere thank you to those of you who cared enough to donate. It was such a joy to bless her as she begins this new chapter in her life. Please keep Maddy in your prayers as she rebuilds her life after porn. Please pray she has a beautiful healthy baby girl and for her life and family to be totally restored.

Shelley loves to feel babies kick! Thanks for putting up with me Maddy.

  Tamra, Jan and Shelley were on MTV's True Life episode "I'm addicted to porn" where we reached out to porn star Jayden Jaymes. It was actually a great episode and we encourage you to watch it. We will soon add it to our video section so check back soon!

In a nutshell, we love you Jayden and pray you will see the truth and do something better with your life. You are an amazing young woman who is made for greater things than porn!

PS: Please pray for Shelley, Jan and Tamra as we fly to appear on another TV show the end of this month. Lately we have been asked by media and TV shows to share the truth about porn and we need your help and prayers. We usually have to pay our own expenses to travel and would appreciate any help you can give to us. Our main goal for making media appearances is to spread the truth about the porn industry and the harms of pornography.

There are a million more things I could write but due to space and time, I can only share with you some of the things happening at Pink Cross Foundation.

I want to sincerely thank all of you who support Pink Cross because without you in no way would we be as far along as we are. God is using you to be the hands and feet to reach out to those stuck in porn and those who are struggling with porn addiction. God is also using you in His powerful movement to end pornography for good and heal the families of America.

 Marilyn Chambers died.

We are deeply saddened to announce that porn star Marilyn Chambers died. Below is a report from chattahbox.com.

The Los Angeles County coroner’s office is reporting that 1970s porn actress, Marilyn Chambers was found dead Sunday night, by her 17-year old daughter McKenna in her Santa Clarita trailer park home. The former angelic faced Ivory Snow cover model, turned porn star, was found unresponsive with no foul play suspected. She was 56-years old. An autopsy is scheduled to determine the cause of Chamber’s death.

 I received an email today with an article written by a friend who grew up with Marilyn and want to share it with you.

Remembering Marilyn Chambers

Tomorrow the newspapers will call her a “former porn star.”  They will mention the scandal that erupted when Marilyn — the “99 and 44/100% pure” model holding a baby on the Ivory soap box — moved into hard-core films.  They may say that some of her movies were produced by the infamous Mitchell brothers, or that she worked with legendary male porn star Johnny Wadd.

They might even mention that she grew up in Westport, Connecticut, the daughter of an advertising executive father and a nurse mother.  The obituary writers will describe Marilyn Chambers, but they will focus only on her titillating past.  That’s natural; they didn’t know her.

I did.

And as a Westporter a grade behind Marilyn Briggs at Long Lots Junior High School and Staples High, with plenty of friends in common, I knew her when it counted — when we were young.  She was a field hockey player and cheerleader.  She was cute — very cute — and outgoing.  And though she was way ahead of most of us even then, and was already modeling in New York, she was still just “Marilyn.”

Her 1970 Staples yearbook writeup says:  “likes digging on life, being happy, ‘The Owl and the Pussycat’” — she had a bit part in that Barbra Streisand film  during high school, though she was credited as “Evelyn Lang” — “her dog, the city…dislikes school, commuting to New York, running out of gas, making decisions.”

She was a Homecoming Queen nominee.  She did not win  — but in a class poll, she won “Best Student Body.”

Her nickname, the yearbook said, was “Briggs.”  “Marilyn Chambers” was off in the future.

That future came quickly, though.  She made “Behind the Green Door” — the first hardcore pornographic movie widely released in the United States — in 1972.  I saw it, of course — knowing her made me a celebrity with my college friends — but watching it filled me with both intrigue and sadness.  She was 2 years and a continent removed from Westport, but it seemed she was now a lifetime and a universe away.

Marilyn made over 25 porn films.  She also ran for vice president of the United States in 2004 (on the Personal Choice Party ticket).  The years in between were not kind to her.  She battled drug and alcohol addiction, and her three marriages ended in divorce.

But as far away as she drifted, she never really left Westport behind.  She loved attending Staples reunions, and her former classmates loved seeing her.  Sure, it was cool having their pictures taken with her (their wives were not as pleased) — but once the cameras were gone, nothing had changed.  She — everyone — was back in high school school again.  They remembered old times, good times, times before anyone peeked behind the green door.

The media will have a brief feeding frenzy on Marilyn Chambers.  I’ll spend my time remembering Marilyn Briggs.

To think Marilyn died alone in Santa Clarita which is only about 45 minutes from my home pains me. I could have reached out to her with friendship and love. I could have brought her a gift and told her how much all of us at Pink Cross care about her. Maybe she would have allowed me to share my testimony with her and perhaps inspire her to reach out to God and do something different with her life.

I didn't get that chance. I am really bummed.

I realize I don't know all the details of how she died but I do know she was divorced three times and battled with drug and alcohol addiction. Maybe she needed a friend through those times. How many other porn stars are battling and need a friend right now?

Please keep Marilyn's family and friends in prayer. Please commit to praying fervently for women and men in the porn industry and for God to move powerfully in their lives. Jesus saves porn stars. Don't ever doubt that for a minute. But we have to pray and pray hard.
